Pessimist to Optimist

Walk into a room, flip a switch and light comes -
     We say, "Ugh, another light bulb went out!"
Turn a knob and water flows -
     We say, "Wow, this is too cold!"
Grab keys; open the door, turn ignition and the car starts -
     We say, "I cannot believe the gas prices!"
Pack bags, book the flight and arrive miles away in a few hours -
     We say, "I hate security procedures!"
Walk into the grocery, grab food and serve dinner within minutes -
     We say, "I am hungry right now!"

I find my attitude to be negative too often.  I must remind myself of the simple pleasures taken for granted.  America provides so much freedom which we overlook.  No longer do we need to burn a candle, wait for the sun to come up or find a flashlight to see in the dark.  No longer do we need to walk miles to gather water, pump a well or limit our usage in the shower.  No longer do we need to walk or ride a bike to our destination.  No longer do we need to pick crops, clean them up or start a fire to fill our stomachs. 

The world continues to progress in creating a convenient life.  Computers work for us, electronics provide entertainment, restaurants cook for us and yet we still find room to complain.  Often boredom comes because electricity went out or the calendar remains blank for one day.

 Really? 

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." (Philipians 4:7-9)

Let us move from pessimist to optimist.  Living in expectation of negative outcomes only steals the confidence found through Jesus Christ.  He promises to bring peace, joy and life to the fullest.  Hear that?  Life to the fullest.  Our glass NEVER appears half empty when the focus is on Him.  No room exists inside us for emptiness or loneliness.  

Why be skeptical?  For Our Creator provides hope for a great future, daily needs and love along the way.  The mere fact you are reading this means you can see, touch, comprehend, move and function in life.  God brings your every breath so you may go and be His hands and feet.  Go and be an optimist so as to open the eyes of all the pessimists.  Practice in the dark what you learned in the light so as to not remain in dark.

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for created this life for me.  You are amazing!  I praise Your work and appreciate the Truths You provide for my daily living.  Without Your Instructions, I am lost.  I love You.

Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
