Sliver of Pink

I rolled over at 4:00 am only to hear my human alarm clock going off.  I knew my real one would be ringing loudly in about 15 minutes.  I did NOT want to get up and go to work.  I gave my daughter her blanket and she quickly fell back asleep. 

I planted my feet on the floor to start my day.  My body, mind and soul screamed for more sleep.  I continued through my motions for the morning.  When time came to leave, I still dragged my feet.  I started my vehicle and reached up to God.  I said, "God, I am tired, I need more sleep, but I must go on with this day.  Be with me, give me strength and change my attitude to one that displays positivism."

The minute I hit the highway, He revealed my answer.  All the sky appeared clouded and a bit dark.  All but one sliver right in my view.  It exposed a beautiful bright pink.  Now, God knows how much I love painted skies.  I love sunsets and sunrises.  He sent that small glimpse of beauty to let me know He was right there with me, awake and ready to guide me through this day.

‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ (Jeremiah 33:3)

"God is our refuge and strength,
   an ever-present help in trouble." (Psalm 46:1)

"So do not fear, for I am with you;
   do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;

God provides for all who call upon Him.  He sits and waits to hear from you.  Ask Him into your life, so He may begin a work in you beyond anything imagined.  Bring Him into every decision, every move and every moment of the day.  He loves to celebrate good times, lift up in sad times, provide strength in weak times and protect in scary times.  He loves YOU! 

God sustains each of us through every day.  He provides strength and help.  Nothing experienced seems insignificant to our Father.  Whether it be losing your favorite pen a work, sleeping through the alarm, undergoing surgery or losing a loved one; He awaits your call for help.  He upholds you with His hand and guides you through each step needed to get on the path He planned for you. 

Open your eyes to the signs of His presence.  Believe He will provide and release all your anxieties, sadness and anger to Him.  The battles are His, not yours.  Let your Father work for you.

One little sliver of painted sky opened my eyes that morning to remember I am not alone.  He sympathized with me and carried me through the day.  Thanks God!  You are amazing!

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for every painted sky provided for my enjoyment.  I know You are near every moment of my days.  Keep my eyes open to Your presence.  I love You.

Extend Grace

Many people in our lives bring excitement, joy, love and fun times.  There are those who always turn our sadness to laughter.  Our relationships feel strong and rooted.  Communication, prayer and time keep these connections stable. 

Each member of the relationship blesses the other.  As one falls, the other steps in to lift up their spirit.  When one cries out in need, the other comes to provide help.  When one experiences trials, the other prays with and for them.  Where one lacks, the other provides.  We thank God for these relationships, each time the thought crosses our mind.  We long to see if too much time slips by.

"First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world.  God, whom I serve in my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you  in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God’s will the way may be opened for me to come to you." (Romans 1:8-10)

It feels natural and easy to love these people.  Our common ground allows for happiness, not conflict.  What about those individuals in life who seem HARD to love?  Those who bring sadness, pain, tears, hatred and depression with each visit.  Avoidance would seem the right solution. 

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." (Colossians 3:12-14)

"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,  that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." (Matthew 5:43-45)

God asks for all His Children to love one another and forgive as He forgives.  Set the example for the other in a relationship.  Don't allow the decision and actions of another to determine your mood.  Have fun, be kind, show patience and extend a hand of grace; you will find, little by little the other will mimic your behavior.  Persevere in loving those we feel should not receive goodness.  We are not the judge.  Lift those in prayer and God will begin working diligently to soften the heart of both in a relationship.  God does not choose favorites.  Let us do the same.

I have experienced some difficult relationships.  Some I felt were severed beyond repair.  I decided to pray hard for guidance, restoration and forgiveness.  My hand began to extend grace.  Quickly, the other reciprocated the action.  Granted, it takes two for this to occur.  If you feel one-sided, continue to pray and be patient.  God will take care of all the details in His timing.

Some restoration of relationships may be unhealthy to both or one party.  God will place on your heart when it is necessary to keep distance.  The distance does not mean forgiveness cannot occur.  Forgive and continue to pray for the other.  We all want the best for another; prayer helps.

Challenge: Who could you write a letter to and extend your thanks for their love, kindness and friendship?
Who could you write a letter to and extend grace and/or forgiveness?

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for the grace given to me.  May I extend my hand in grace in all my relationships.  Thank You for all my friends, family and loved ones.  You surround me with such great people.  Show me others who need to know the love You hold for them.  Work through me to teach and lead others to You.  Thank You for the laughter, fun times, love and joy You provide in my life.  I love our relationship and yearn to grow closer to You each day.  I love You.

Life's Theme

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28) 

God speaks to each of His Children differently.  He knows when your ears perk up and what areas of life will gain the most attention from you.  Listen, His teachings are crucial. 

The most obvious way God speaks to me is through Scripture.  He repeats the presence of particular ones to teach me lessons, to heal my hurts and answer my prayers.  In school, when a teacher repeats an idea, definition or point; listen up; it will be on the test.  Well, the same goes in life when God repeats Himself.  Listen up; this is the answer for what you have been searching.

The Scripture above appears to me at least once a day in some form.  I will often glance at the clock and the time is 8:28!  I open up my daily devotion and the author uses Romans 8:28 to correspond with the lesson!  I will venture back through uplifting letters I received and Romans 8:28 boldly flies off the paper!  I even once had a child in Sunday school find a piece of paper stuck under a table and hand it to me; guess what, Romans 8:28 typed neatly on one side!

WOW!  I believe God would like me to take this Scripture and make it the foundation for living.  In the past I leaned on Proverbs 3:5-6 (which is the theme of my blog).  Well, God sees more than I and believes I must now lean on Romans 8:28.

What do I take from this Scripture?  As I work through healing my past hurts, forgiving myself for mistakes and taking my next step; I feel Him continually telling me that all those things will be worked for good if I continue to love and believe Him.  He will reveal each wound so I may use it at just the right time to lead another one of His Children to Him.  Each healed memory will become a seed to plant in a hurting individual.  All in His time!

So, why did I experience hurt, sadness and bondage?  To be used for the betterment of other people in His Kingdom.  I want to be a vessel He uses to lead others to the Truth I could not see when consumed with Satan's lies.  I must forget my 'pity parties' and choose to live for Him.  I must surrender myself and allow Him to use me for the purpose He planned. 

This Scripture is for you as well.  Any past mistake (we all have them) does not define who you are now.  God washed away all our sins by sending His only Son to die for you and for me.  He will never waste a hurt.  He works everything out for His benefit so Satan cannot create havoc.  Satan cannot contaminate what God already made clean.

God, thank you for today.  Thank You for speaking so clearly to me.  May I keep Your Truth always on my lips, mind and soul.  I will follow You.  Use me in mighty ways.  Remind me daily that Jesus paid the price and washed all my sin away.  I love You.

Be a Postage Stamp

The road to success is dotted with many tempting parking places.  ~Author Unknown

The quotes above refer to perseverance.  I am the first to run when times become difficult.  I lack perseverance.  I like the last quote the best of all.  As I travel down the path God laid for me, Satan continues providing parking spots.  The spots seem so comfortable and pulling over would be nice right about now.  I am so tired; I could park and take a long nap.  The lies start pouring in as I look at each parking spot.

It is then; I reach up to God for strength.  God uses the weak to reveal Himself.  Breaking free from the bondage of Anorexia - all God; I wanted and still want to give up often.  Conquering the need for approval - all God; I fear rejection constantly.  Pushing through the toughest of relationships - all God; my feet would love to run from the hardships.  Standing firm on Truth and keeping my mouth quiet - all God; my big mouth and stubborn mind love to speak out. 

Often, we feel good about our journey and think, "I did it!"  Only then do you find Satan attacking again with the same tactics as before.  What should we do?  Persevere in what is right and go directly to Truth.  As the one quote refers to enduring even when your flesh feels tired of doing the same hard work. 

"Not only so, but we, also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." (Romans 5:3) 

God knows our heart and He sees us giving 100% to be more like Him.  We are not there yet, but closer today than yesterday.  He will provide the strength to push through and learn if we allow Him into our every moment of life.  Hope in Him.  Keep the tools He provides ready for the next attack.  Keep stepping in concordance to His Will.

"I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first." (Revelation 2:19)

As mentioned in the quotes, be a postage stamp.  Stick to the plan God places on your life until arriving at your destination - Heaven.  Persist in doing good.  He will take care of and use you in mighty ways beyond anyone's imagination.  He reveals Himself in this way.  It is only through Him strength can come to continue through the trials and tribulations here.  He knows the way, for He has already overcome this world.  Stick with Him, refuse to park, be patient and do not grow weary!

God, thank you for today.  Feed me Truth so I may combat these lies Satan continues to throw my way.  Keep my mouth quiet until my heart catches up to my thoughts.  Then I may speak with sincerity, not condemnation to others.  Strengthen my relationships and teach me through every trial.  I lean on You to heal every wound.  I love You.

Cry it Out

As a new mother, we run when our babies cry.  We bring a bottle, pacifier or favorite toy to help soothe them to comfort.  The bedtime routine includes a rocker, music, bottle and/or patting their little tush!

Okay, enough of this!  Now comes the most difficult time; letting them cry it out.  Our babies come to a point when they need to learn self-soothing techniques.  Sitting outside the room, listening to the cries, brings tears to any mother's eyes.  We want to scoop them up and just make it all better.  Would that help the matter in any way?  No, we would just start from scratch again the next night.  It gets easier if we just hang on a few nights.  Then, the cries last for only a few minutes and the baby knows how to return to sleeping.

Okay, we conquered that one, now on to taking away the bottle and/or pacifier.  The same scenario mentioned above occurs.  After a few nights and naps without this vice, the baby finds a way to soothe themselves to sleep.

"But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you.  Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!” (Judges 10:13-14) 

Often we returned to infancy when our flesh feels uncomfortable.  We cry out for someone to come to our rescue, scoop us up and make everything better.  Vices become a way to erase our pain, numb out and sleep it away.  Guess what?  These methods do not work.  We only start from scratch when faced with the next, or same, struggle.  As the flesh becomes upset, the circle of escape begins again. 

Unlike the baby finding ways to self-soothe, we cannot use this method when facing trials of this life.  We must reach to our Creator, our Healer, Great Counselor and find God-soothing methods for peace.  He is the only way to reach true, lasting joy. 

"As for me, I call to God,
   and the LORD saves me.
Evening, morning and noon
   I cry out in distress,
   and he hears my voice.
He rescues me unharmed
   from the battle waged against me,
   even though many oppose me." (Psalm 55:16-18)

He will scoop you up, hold you in His arms, heal the hurts, catch each tear and place you back on your feet to walk in peace with Him.  Trials and tribulations will occur in life, but lean on Him to see you through each one.  When we fail to rely on Him, damage occurs to our hearts; we run in circles and remain stuck in situations.  As we run to His Truths, the pain lasts only a short while. 

I experienced this very situation yesterday.  I headed down my road of crying out in self-pity as I have in the past.  A trigger sent me running to that hideous path.  I took a few steps and said, "No way, Satan, I will not feed into your lies to send me down there."  I cried out to God, asking Him to consume me with Truth and combat the lies pouring in to my mind.  He did!  He picked me up and carried me back to His path.  This took much less time than it ever had in the past!  Praise God. 

Not only do we cry out to be rescued, we must cry out to praise our God.  He is amazing, not only for all He does for us, but also for just being the God He is.  He loves us just as we are, no performance or works required.  He is AMAZING!

God, thank you for today.  Thank You for being my Father.  Thank You for breathing life into me.  I know You created me for a reason, may I fulfill Your plans each day, with each step.  Should my feet stumble, reveal to me quickly through Your Truth how to catch myself and remained balanced.  I love You.

Alive Again

My husband and I met in high school.  We dated for a year and then I moved with my parents to Kentucky and finished out school.  The long distance relationship lasted for a short bit.  We communicated by phone and wrote letters.  On the weekends we visited each other if possible, the drive was about four hours.  Slowly, the relationship became too difficult to keep alive!

I never could shake the love, the fun and joy I experienced with him from my heart.  Brian left an imprint on my heart that never went away.  We continued to write letters when given the chance.  I communicated with his family as well.  I would sit and dream about getting back with him someday.  Life moved on, with much difficulty.  The chaos in life damaged the memories of the fun, joy and love I once had.  It was sad!

One day, when the time seemed right, I wrote a letter to Brian.  The day he received his letter from me, I received one from him.  Fate?  NO.  This story has God's hands all over it!  We decided to meet up again.  My heart raced as I drove the four hours to see him again.  I tried to look my best, wanting to impress him.  I wondered, 'What would I first do when I saw him?' 

Well, the rest is history.  He could not resist falling in love with this beauty again!  Okay, so I am the one who could not resist, but the other way just sounds a lot better.  We married and now enjoy each day together!

Do you ever feel your relationship with God could mimic such a story as I just described?

"To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.  They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good." (Titus 1:15-16)

Often we begin with God in our hearts, knowing the love, joy and fun He places before us.  We venture off on long distance trips of shame, guilt, sin, lies or addictions.  Slowly, the distance placed by our actions kills the relationship with Him.  Life continues in chaos and misery.  Though God's imprint remains on our hearts, the empty prayers and hypocritical actions do not allow for His love to consume us.  The experiences we had with Him slowly fade and many times cannot be brought to memory.

"For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate." (Luke 15:24) - Story of the Prodigal Son!

One day, when His timing is right, you realize this dead life is enough.  You want to go home to Him.  You know the only place to live is in His arms.  Run to Him, He waits with arms wide open!  As you approach Him, your heart may race, tears may flow and you try to look your best.  Guess what?  He wants you just as you are, humbled before His feet.  Let Him consume your heart with love, joy, peace, fun and forgiveness. 

The same way Brian's family accepted me right back in, so will God's family.  Our family of believers rejoices with each child coming home.  A celebration occurs each time one child allows God to embrace him/her.  The angels sing with gladness. 

Leave the sinful life, run to freedom.  Freedom only found through Him.  I followed my heart, God accepted me with open arms and He now guides me through each healing step one at a time.  Even better, He teamed me up with the one person on Earth that I have loved since the moment my eyes looked his way!  God is Awesome.  Allow Him into your life and just sit and let Him work.  He wants so badly to express His love to you.

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for the plans You have for my life.  I am running to You for answers, healing, love and grace.  I know You sit and wait for me to allow You to work.  Thank You for each blessing You provide.  I love You!

Faith Comfort

To embarrass is to cause one to feel self-conscious or ill at ease; disconcert or frustrated.

Now, let us examine deeper.  We may feel embarrassed when falling in front of people, forgetting an important event, revealing a past mistake, lacking knowledge or even due to actions of others connected to us in some way.  Really?  There is so much more to this life than these minor events. 

I have felt self-conscious, ill at ease, disconcert and frustrated in various situations in my life.  As I look at it now, I see they were but a mere wisp in the wind.  Did the action or event I experienced really affect God's opinion of me?  Does God think any less of my capabilities?  Could God be embarrassed of me?

The answer is a big NO!  God loves each of His Children and will never forsake them.  He does not take account of the failures, embarrassing moments or wrong decisions.  He looks at our faith and obedience to Him.  Some things He asks of us may make our flesh feel embarrassed.  Do it anyway!  We must venture from flesh comfort and rely on faith comfort.  Live by faith not by flesh!

"I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
   he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant;
   their faces are never covered with shame." (Psalm 34:4-5)

"So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.
Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister." (Romans 14:12-13) 

Look to Him for confidence and then embarrassment will vanish from your vocabulary.  Also, do not allow the actions of another to bring frustration, ill feelings or damage your worth.  Each one of us will give account of ourselves NOT of others.  We need to veer from judging another, lift them in prayer so God may intervene and work on their heart.  No individual holds the power to shame your 'name'.  Be confident in who you are in Christ and stand firm on His Truths. 

Take every thought and make it obedient to Him, demolish all that goes against the His Truths (see 2 Corinthians 10:5)!

God, thank you for today.  Take the word embarrassment from my vocabulary.  May I walk by faith, not flesh.  This body is but a temporary home for me to use while here on Earth.  My true home is in Heaven with You.  Keep my focus on You, so I rely on God-confidence.  Renew my mind each day as I read Your Word.  I love You.

Recycle Bin

Our local grocery store does not bag your items.  You may use boxes found throughout the store to transport groceries home or reusable bags.  We bring reusable bags with each visit.  Yesterday, my son found a box next to us while bagging our purchases.  You would have thought he found a million dollars.  He took my pen and wrote his name on every side so no one else could claim it. 

When we arrived home, he took it quickly to our playroom and began using it.  He created a garage for a portion of his car collection.  Later in play, he used the box as a shield from the "rain" coming down on our racetrack.  His little mind always churns to invent fun out of simple material.  Paper towel rolls become horns, flutes, telescopes or tunnels for his cars.  Boxes, depending on size, have been his home, nail boards, cars, a storage garage or just an empty canvas to draw.

He never counts any material as 'JUNK'!

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)

"But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him." (Jeremiah 18:4)

"Yet you, LORD, are our Father.
   We are the clay, you are the potter;
   we are all the work of your hand." (Isaiah 64:8)

Just as my son finds use in anything he sees, so God finds use in each of His Children.  Whether you feel like an old box, broken pot or 'junk'; God does not see you as such.  He finds each of us as a treasure waiting for us to allow Him to work in us.  He takes our broken, sinful lives and creates beauty.  He writes His name all over His work for to see through Him a new creation appeared.  We leave who we were and become who He planned for us to be.

A potter takes a marred piece of clay and creates a very useful pot, formed to what seemed best in his eye.  God is our potter, we are His clay.  He forms each of us to best suit Him.  He never counts any of us as lost, useless or 'junk'.

God finds treasure in what the world sees as worthless, old or trash.  My son loves to raid my recycle bin to create a new use for the material.  God raids through His Children to bring them out of the recycle bin and use them for even a better more creative purpose.  It is then when He shines forth because we are used for something less obvious to the human eye.  He uses us for tasks beyond our imagination.  We are His!

God, thank you for today.  Thank You for the many lessons taught through my son.  Keep him working for You.  Though he is too little to understand the work You do through him each day, I see it.  Thank You!  Take me from the recycle bin and use me for Your great works.  I am here to be molded and shaped to transform my marred past to a useful present and future.  I love You.

Hoarders

To hoard is to keep 'stuff' hidden or private.  It is an accumulation of hidden funds or supplies stored for future use.  Hoarders may believe the items to be valuable or just cannot let go of the memories the items may trigger. 

Eventually, hiding 'stuff' becomes an issue.  A home only contains so many corners, closets and drawers.  The 'stuff' comes into the living space and overtakes the home.  Some individuals have a hard time maneuver without stepping over a box or pile of 'stuff'. 

You may think this life sounds absurd or unbelievable.  We all fall victim to a life full of hoarding.  We hold on to the past, the hurts, the sorrow and the sins committed.  How does this affect us?


"In his pride the wicked man does not seek him;
   in all his thoughts there is no room for God." (Psalm 10:4)


Well, the thoughts hold us captive and Satan loves to come in and give us reason to hold on to each of them.  Our thoughts overtake our mind and we have a hard time walking the path God laid for us.  We try and step over the box filled with past mistakes.  We maneuver around hoping to not see the scrapbook of our sins.  We run and leap over the hurdles of pain and sorrow.  Guess what?  These obstacles do not just vanish. 

We must choose to give each one to Him.  Let Truth consume our thoughts and rid ourselves of the 'stuff' which holds us in bondage.  Don't hoard!  Give every anxious thought, every debilitating memory and all shame to Him.  He will take care of each so to clear your path to follow Him.  There comes a time when holding on has no benefit to your growth. 

"How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
   and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
   How long will my enemy triumph over me?" (Psalm 13:2) 

It has been long enough for this woman!  I do not want any more 'stuff' blocking my wholehearted devotion to serving my Creator.  Take them all God and use each one when the time is right to comfort or lead one of Your Children to You.  The enemy will not triumph anymore!

God, thank you for today.  Clean out my closets, drawers and cabinets so no more sin can live from my past inside my heart.  I released the big stuff blocking my path, but I still need You to take the 'stuff' hiding in the corners.  No more hoarding for this Child of Yours.  I am here to serve You with a clean, neat and orderly conscience.  Be with me to release the 'stuff'.  I love You.

Grab His Hand

I mowed my yard early yesterday to avoid the heat.  I normally push most of the back yard, but did the minimum this time so to use the rider for the rest.  I figured the heat had less impact on my body driving a mower rather than pushing one. 

As I approached the corner in the back of our house with the rider, I became stuck.  I remained in this dip for what seemed like too long.  I maneuvered this way and that way, but the wheels kept spinning.  After much fighting and frustration, I lifted up a prayer to God.  Sure enough, He showed me a way out through my neighbor's yard.  I was able to come back to our yard by a different route.

Again, I found myself in the same predicament the next time around.  I thought maybe it would be different this time if I just went at it from a different angle.  WRONG.  I fell into the same dip.  I spent less time trying to get out my way and quickly remembered the way God instructed for me to get out.

Yes, again I came to the same dip.  You may be sensing now that I am stubborn.  This time was different than the others.  I remembered God's Way and did not even question His capabilities to get me out of this mess.  No frustration appeared, only gratitude to my Guide!

"If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over.  I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze.  Your strength will be spent in vain, because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will the trees of your land yield their fruit." How often does our pride keep us stuck in a rut?

We believe we know how to get out of a mess, we know the words to use in a tough conversation and we have the strength to get through a sad situation.  We could not be more wrong.  The 'I can' must leave our vocabulary and be replaced by 'only through Him'.  Our ears must remain open to His ways.

God spoke loudly to me on this very subject this week.  I remained in a deep pit of past mistakes.  While in this place, I blamed others, fought back the tears, refused to listen and tried to get out alone.  Not only did I continue in this pit, but with each stubborn thought I fell deeper.  I realized my pride must be crushed to receive help.  He Truth leads me out of my dark pits. 

So why do we continue to visit the same pits?  I believe we learn slowly.  Our flesh wants the glory.  It feeds on accomplishment and good works.  Our pride loves acknowledgement of victory.  When we approach life with these goals in mind, we quickly end up in the same pit. 

God extends His hand each time one of His children experiences trouble.  The problem occurs when we deny His hand try through our own strength.  Only through Him can we gain strength to release any bondage keeping us in our pits.  After surrendering the bondage, do not return.  Avoid the same trouble and continue the way He clearly showed you.  Remember in the light what you learned in the dark.  Give Him the glory.  He shines through tough times and others will see Him through you.

God, thank you for today.  Continue guiding my ways.  Crush my stubborn character, soften my heart and humble my spirit.  Consume me inside-out so I may follow You and not my flesh desires.  I love You.

Proper Care

A broken bone involves a complete snap.  The injured part will move unnaturally and be very tender to the touch.  Upon hearing the snap, you must stay still until medical help arrives.  Some injuries involve breaking the skin as well and bleeding follows.  The bleeding must be controlled until medical help arrives.

An ice pack and makeshift splint may be used until medical help arrives.  The injured part must remain in its position.  Failing to follow the steps of healing may result in further damaging the part.  If the injury is not properly handled a re-break may be required in the future. 

Prevention is vital in keeping our body whole and safe.  Use proper safety gear when taking part in activities (helmets, pads, etc.).  When working wear steal toed boots for protection.  When playing sports, use any equipment made for that particular sport (chest protector, shoulder pads, etc.).

"For he wounds, but he also binds up;
   he injures, but his hands also heal." (Job 5:18)

"Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am faint;
   heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony." (Psalm 6:2)

"but those who hope in the LORD
   will renew their strength." (Isaiah 40:31)

I ventured through life ignoring any and all injuries.  I did not protect myself, prevent any harm or recognize dangerous situations.  I failed to hear the loud "SNAP" from a broken 'bone'.  I did not stay still and overlooked the blood spilling from my wound.  I numbed the pain through worldly vices. 

Well, I decided to call for help.  My wounds consumed my whole body so much that I realized I cannot do this anymore.  I cannot heal my hurts.  I thought I could, but I only created further damage.  I cry out to our one true Healer and He takes each wound, binding them one by one.  Just as re-breaking a previous injury hurts much worse than if properly handled the first time, so my pain feels much worse now.  He breaks me, so He may renew my strength and place scars over my open wounds. 

His hand appeared through every situation in my past, I just failed to grab a hold.  I chose to try it on my own.  I thought I knew the answers.  I was ignorant to His healing Word.  I now must place on the proper gear to protect myself in every situation (see Ephesians 6:13-17).  My ears now tune to any "SNAP" heard within my body.  I know to stay still, cover the injury with His Truths, control any further damage and wait on God to wipe away the tears and heal.

Call upon Him in any emergency.  He hears and will answer.  He will show you the process for healing and peace.  When you come upon another person with an injury, lead them to the Healing Manual.  For any hurt, any pain or any question; the answers are in this Book!

God, thank you for today.  Thank You for breaking me.  I know that through this, I will properly heal my wounds by giving each one to You.  I love You.

It is Him

A child cries.  A mother, by the sound of the cry, knows what will soothe the little one.  A newborn cries so softly deep in the night.  A mother wakes, while the father continues to snore.
-MOTHER'S INSTINCT!

You walk along the street and see a penny with heads up.  At a raffle, the organization drew your name from hundreds to win a new TV. 
-LUCK!

Upon arriving at work, the donuts just came in, warm and ready to eat.  A coupon comes in the mail for your local salon and a haircut is much needed.
-PERFECT TIMING!

When pulling out of your driveway, you remember your lunch sitting on the counter in the kitchen.  You are running late, but hear on the news of a wreck they just cleaned up on the road leading you to work.
-by CHANCE!

Finally, this relationship feels right.  Marriage comes into the picture.  We became pregnant.  We landed just the right job.  Success consumes our life.
-FATE!

"For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,  for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:12-13)

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
   neither are your ways my ways,”
            declares the LORD.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
   so are my ways higher than your ways
   and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Open your eyes my friend!  These examples are God.  I do not believe in fate, chance, instinct, luck or perfect timing (due to our power).  God remains with us through every minute of every day.  The more you pray to Him, the closer the relationship becomes and the better His voice is heard.  He will take care of every detail, no matter how small.  Rather it be reminding you of a forgotten lunch on the counter, holding off the donut man until right before you arrive at work or bringing the one He chose for you in marriage to your front door.  

Praise Him each time He comes through for you.  See Him and acknowledge His presence.  Share these experiences with others so they may see Him as well.  I could not make it through the day without Him protecting me and guiding my steps.  I envision Him walking just a few steps in front of me and moving an object out of the way so I do not fall or providing a person to open a door for me when my hands are full (as a mother my hands are never empty).  My mind is always busy with going here or doing that, but God always reminds me of where I need to be at a specific time.  He is my post-it note for all the items I need to take with me for that day.  Countless times I begin backing out of the driveway and God says, "Sheree, you forgot the diaper bag, your water or towels for the pool!"  

He is just so amazing and never lets me down.  I just don't know how I lived so long without Him in my life.  Yeah, I do!  He still was present at that time.  I just could not see Him.  Oh, when your eyes are open to Him, life is awesome.  He provides joy, peace, laughter, comfort and LOVE.  That is right He loves you.  His love is beyond what we can even imagine.  

Acknowledge Him, look for Him today!  Feel His love!   

God, thank you for today.  Thank You for bringing so many people into my life, so many blessings and protecting my every move.  Soften my heart to reach out and allow others in, so I may share with them all You do for me.  Use me, use my hurts, use my pain to help others feel the comfort from You just as I did.  Use me to open their eyes to You.  I love You.

Live for Him or Self?

We perform the same mundane events each day, so it seems.  Often, the same people encompass our every day surroundings.  Rarely, something exciting happens or someone new appears.  As we focus on our routines, we miss little opportunities to step out and work for God.  We fall into a rut and may even feel our presence here is worth nothing. 

God does not use blatantly obvious means to reveal our purpose.  We must open our eyes, turn on our ears and move our feet in His direction.  Our days will never seem mundane if we wake ready to work for Him.  He will continue to use us in various ways so never to feel worth nothing.

"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.  If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know!  I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far;  but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body." (Philippians 1:21-24)

I recall years ago when Anorexia held tight bondage on me.  I would ask God to take me home to Him every night.  I saw no purpose for me to stay living in the body.  What good was I doing here?

Well, God knew there was purpose for me to remain here.  I often don't know what that purpose could be, but I am ready.  I am here for Him to use daily.  I pray for the strength through Him to fulfill my purpose here.  I know that each step I take in faith, He will bless.  If I should fall or step wrong, He quickly disciplines and sets my feet back right. 

Sure, Heaven will be spectacular, beyond my imagination, but there is still more work to do down here.  With every breath taken, He uses you if ready and willing.  Living for Him brings excitement, meaning, beauty, relationships, happiness, joy and peace.  Living for self is not really living at all.  Self gain brings boredom, sadness, broken relationships, confusion, ugly times and emptiness. 
Which sounds better?  Which will you choose?

I had it all wrong.  No wonder life here seemed worthless and miserable.  I was living to please flesh and man, not as a servant to Christ.  

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for each breath I take.  I am here, use me to further Your Kingdom, to display Your love and guide others to Your Truths.  Keep my focused on my life with You and not the past selfish life.  Keep Satan's lies away.  I love You.

Pure Fun

In my younger years, my mom, my good friend and I reported back to one another when we read a funny church sign.  Churches often place message boards out front with some words to spark your thinking.  I believe the church hopes the message will draw you in their doors to learn more.

Be careful as to not choose a church simply on appearance or words on a message board.  Delve into God's Word and ask for Him to guide you where He would like you to learn about Him.  Place your hope in Him, not a place or a saying displayed in front of a building.  Follow Him.  Allow Him to speak to you and nourish your spirit.

"Guide me in your truth and teach me,
   for you are God my Savior,
   and my hope is in you all day long." (Psalm 25:5)

"The LORD will guide you always;
   he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
   and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
   like a spring whose waters never fail." (Isaiah 58:11)
 

Though the signs must not be used to teach or entice us to join a church, I still enjoy reading them.  I enjoy it so much that I bought a book full of them.  I will share some with you in pure fun.

The world uses duct tape to fix everything.  Jesus used nails.
May all your troubles be a short as your New Year's resolutions.
Faith is bread for daily use, not cake for special occasions.
The best exercise is stooping down and lifting up another.
Life is more fun if you don't keep score.
Let's meet at my house Sunday before the game.
You are in the driver's seat, but God holds the map.
If you find yourself with time on your hands, put 'em together and pray.
Watch your step - everyone else does.

Begin a Prayer Life

"What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?" (Deuteronomy 4:7)

"In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the LORD, weeping bitterly." (1 Samuel 1:10)

 "I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
   turn your ear to me and hear my prayer." (Psalm 17:6)

A prayer, by definition, is a plea or call for help.  We often tell another in distress, "I will be praying for you," or "My prayers are with you."  We turn to prayer when the road gets rough.  We beg on our knees for Him to spare a life.  We close our eyes and ask for something good to happen.

So, is prayer life intended only when stress comes in, others hurt or life seems unfair?  How do we build a constant prayer life?  What would we say to Him?

My husband stumbled across a great guide to begin building a prayer life.  He helped it teach the younger kids at church camp.  Sometimes little guys have no idea what to pray for or feel embarrassed to say the wrong thing when in a group setting.  Use this guide to get yourself started:
Place your hands together as though you just clapped.
Your thumb, nearest your body, represents those close to you.  Pray for your mom, dad, sister, best friend, etc.
Your pointer finger, next in line, represents those who instruct or heal.  Pray for doctors, nurses, teachers, etc.
Your tallest finger represents those in charge.  Pray for political leaders, ministers, founders of local organizations, etc.
Your ring finger, the weakest of all, represents those in pain or sick.  Pray for those in the hospital, cancer patients, etc.
Your pinkie finger, the smallest of all, represents you.  You are small compared the power and strength of Your Creator.  Pray for yourself and confess your sins. 

This provides a great START.  I emphasis the word start.  God yearns for a relationship with each of His Children.  A relationship requires communication.  His ears remain open to your words.  He loves to hear your concerns as well as your joys.  Share every emotion, every event and every moment with Him.  Hold a continuous conversation.  You need not wait until your head hits the pillow to pray for something or someone.  Lift up the words the very moment a thought enters your mind.  No where in the Bible does it say we can only pray before we close our eyes at night.  No where in the Bible does it instruct us to be on our knees when we pray.  He accepts prayer at any time of the day and in any stance.

A prayer does not require big, scholarly words or be a certain length.  God is your Father.  Speak to Him like you talk to others in your life.  He knows what is on your heart anyway, so speak it without sugar coating with sophisticated words.  The more real you are with Him, the better He can teach, show His presence and clothe you in His love. 

Give thanks to Him always for being at your side.  He always comes through for us.  Recognize Him for answering prayers.  Though, sometimes the answer is not exactly how we pictured, it corresponds with His plan.  His plan always works out for the good of those who trust, love and believe in Him (see Romans 8:28).  Our Maker knows best!

God, thank you for today.  Thank You for the people that surround me.  Be with us today and provide safe travels and joyous times.  Join us today as always and create memories for us to share.  I love You.

Avoid the Apple

"When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.  Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves." 
(Genesis 3:6-7)

Now why did Eve eat from this specific tree?  God clearly gave direction not to eat from it.  History has described the fruit as an apple.  Obviously, an apple a day from this tree would NOT keep the doctor away!  Eating the apple brought sin into the lives of mankind.  Before eating the fruit, both Adam and Eve remained free of worry, shame, guilt, sadness, self-doubt and life was good.  Then, the devil prowled around, moving in on Eve to entice her to break a rule clearly set by God.  She passed this on to her husband, bringing him down with her.

Thanks a lot Eve!

As a result, God brought painful childbirth to women and hardship for finding food to man (see Genesis 3:14-19).  Here is a perfect example when the devil masquerades in to steal innocence, cause one to fall and makes sin seem so good.  Satan is a liar, thief and bully.  So, I guess we should not blame Eve, but the enemy common among mankind, Satan.  

"And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.  It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve." (2 Corinthians 11:14-15) 

Don't use Eve as a role model.  We must stand stronger than her and obey God.  Sin comes so fast and sits around every corner.  Be ready with the armor God provides.  Apart from Him, we are nothing. 

So, what is your 'apple'?  It could be a beautiful new car, a drink at the local bar, the ex-boyfriend you found on FaceBook, restricting food intake so to look a certain way, saying 'yes' to everyone to please them, etc.  The list goes on and is different for each person.  The sin looks so good, feels right at the moment and we think it won't hurt anyone.  WRONG!  Once the flesh loses that temporary comfort, pain and guilt come with a vengeance.  

Take it from someone who has learned the hard way and continues to heal hurts from past sins.  The temporary feeling is not worth it.  God sits and waits with bigger, better plans for you.  Keep faith in Him, not falling victim to Satan's trickery.  Stomp each trigger with Scripture.  Heal each hurt by clothing yourself in Him.  Surrender every situation to Him who gives you strength.

You cannot do this alone.  I tried for too many years, failing too many times, leaving a trail of destruction.  But, guess what?  God never gave up on me.  He never counted me lost.  He does the same for you.  Accept Him into your life and allow Him to clean out all the rotten fruit and rest perfectly inside the void.  It is then, peace will come.  

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for the lessons learned from Eve.  Bring strength to me to overcome Satan's schemes and know when he tries to steal my joy.  May I spread Your Truths and not my rotten fruit to others I meet daily.  I love You.

No Surgery Necessary

Adenoids trap bacteria swallowed and create antibodies to fight infection.  Small children rely on these to prevent sickness.  In some cases, they swell and cannot perform their duties.  My daughter needed her adenoids removed due to their malfunctioning. 

As we wait in the lobby, my husband asks, "Why do we have parts in our body that we could live without?"  Good question.  I am not one to sit and be okay with no answer.  So, I searched a little bit to see why we can live without adenoids.  As we grow, our body develops other means to fight infection and the adenoids actually shrink, becoming nonexistent.

So, what other parts could we remove?
Some include your Gall bladder, one Kidney, Hair, Tailbone and Appendix.

God uniquely designed each body part to create a well functioning vessel for our souls.  The appendix aides in digesting plant-based foods.  Herbivorous diets were more popular years ago, so we would survive without it now.  The tailbone, used in other species to keep balance, really only exists as remnants of the tail.  Without one kidney, a person may live a healthy life.  The other takes over duties and works efficiently.

So, where am I going with this?  Stick with me here. 

"Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." (2 Corinthians 5:5) 

"Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.  For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.  Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many."
(1 Corinthians 12:12-14)

Though the body may contain some 'useless' parts, this is not the case for the body of Christ.  We each make up a part of the body of Christ.  No one more important than the other, but each serve a specific purpose.  We all must work together to further His Kingdom.  No one part is useless; all are vital to serve Him.

In our physical dwelling; the hand could not run like a foot, the eye could not smell as the nose does and the ear could not taste as our tongue does.  Likewise, among the parts of Christ, each has a specific task or duty.  He created some of us to be His hands in healing, some to be His feet in guiding, some to be His mouth in teaching, others to show how to become more like Him, a few to be His heart in love and yet others just to be His comfort by listening.  We all serve Him.  Find what He wants for you and complete the task with your whole heart.  Don't compare your gift to another's.    

Just as one kidney is removed and the other takes up the slack, we must help if one part should fall.  We pick each other up and build strength to return balance within the body of Christ.  If you see another hurt, sad, sick or falling victim to Satan's schemes, react quickly.  Sometimes this requires you to step out of your comfort zone or abilities for a short while.  God will take care of the details and give you strength as long as you give it your all.

Keep His body healthy.  Your presence is vital to completing His purpose.  Never will surgery be required to remove a part.  Resist falling victim to Satan's lies which tell us we are useless, creating more harm to His body than good and needing removed.

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for creating me for a purpose.  Sometimes I lose sight of my purpose and feel useless, needing to be removed.  Keep my eyes focused on You and the plans for my life.  I am here to be Your hands and feet each day.  I love You.

Color with His Truths

As the crayon touches the paper, imagination begins.  A bunny could be green, a tree blue or an egg black.  It does not matter, the picture is your creation.  As we learn to color at a young age, the crayon often travels outside the intended lines.  Who cares, you have a blast just scribbling away. 

My children come to me with drawings each day.  Sometimes I have no idea what it could be, but love it just the same.  I ask them to describe the picture to me.  Their little minds created a whole story with just a few strokes of a crayon.  The picture reflects them. 

So, is it scribbles or creative minds?  Is it a mess or a well-scripted story?  Is it odd or beautiful?

I recently saw a movie where two sisters came together to talk amongst family struggles.  They began to build each other up with words because they each feared moving to a different school.  The younger spoke of how beautiful the older was and that everyone liked her.  She would easily make friends.  The older retorted by explaining the mask she wore to try and let others think she was perfect.  Then the older preceded to tell the younger how she had it right.  She colored outside the lines and did not care what others thought of her character.  The younger sister stayed strong and stood firm on who she was.  She did not allow the world to taint her character. 

"For you created my inmost being;
   you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
   your works are wonderful,
   I know that full well." (Psalm 139:13-14)

"On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.  You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness.  We were not looking for praise from people, not from you or anyone else, even though as apostles of Christ we could have asserted our authority." (1 Thessalonians 2:4-6)

God took an empty canvas and created beauty.  He had no lines to worry about coloring outside.  He created the world and everything in it without error.  Everything created was perfect in His eyes, just as planned.  Yes, that means you!  Praise Him, our Creator for breathing life into you. 

As we hide behind masks and stay in the lines set by man, we deprive ourselves of the life God intended.  He gave His only Son to die for each of us so we may live a full, abundant life.  God looks at the heart, unlike man who looks at the outward appearance.  Stand firm in faith, use His Truths to color your life canvas.  By doing so, He will work all things out for the good.  People may reject you, snarl their noses or criticize your faith.  But, do not conform to the patterns of this world, keep your head high with each faithful step you take.  Once people sit back and look at the overall view or your canvas, they will begin to see:  How to Love not Hate - Faith not Fake - Beauty not Flaws - Perseverance not Uncertainty. 

Others will want the happiness, joy and peace you posses.  Allow them to use the same crayons (God's Word) to color their canvas.  This is our purpose as Christians, to spread the Truth to all we meet.  As we trust God and complete one part of the canvas (season of life), He provides another and asks for us to continue.  Take each part as an adventure, color each day with His Word and do not allow the world to taint the character God intended for you.

Love the creation God made - YOU!  Remove the mask of perfection.  Color outside the lines of this world. 

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for loving me just as You made me.  May I take Your Word and apply it to each season in life.  May I stand firm in faith and continue to figure out who You made me to be.  I became lost, allowing this world to place restrictions on my life.  I now see I am here to please only You and work for Your Kingdom.  I am coming along God, stay patient with me as I color further out of the lines each day.  I love You.

The Only Source of Love

"Maybe you don't need the whole world to love you; maybe you just need one person."
     -Kermit the Frog

Okay, so I know Kermit is a fictional character, controlled by a puppeteer.  But, I think there is something to be said about this quote.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

"know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified." (Galatians 2:16) 

We waste so much energy trying to please the people of this world.  We want to be loved by someone in the flesh.  It feels so good to hear "I love you," from a parent, friend, spouse or child.  Being a part of a group brings pleasure, joy and a purpose.  

"Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ." (Galatians 1:10)

Among worldly relationships, we must work to be loved and accepted.  No one person can please everyone else.  Trust me, I have tried and failed numerous times.  With each failed attempt came rejection, sadness, anger towards myself and digging further into my pit.  What was wrong with me that others would not accept meWhy was it so bad to live with me or have a relationship with meWhat did I do wrong?

Guess what my friends?  God loves us without conditions.  He looks at our hearts, not our appearance.  He does not rack up a list of all our works here and then love the one whose list is the longest.  NO, He loves us because we are His children.  The only thing He asks is to believe in Him, take each step in faith and accept Him into your life.

People look at our appearance and, sadly, criticize any flaw they can find.  Upon completing work for another, they accept us and give thanks.  Saying no to the task presents the possibility of rejection.  Now don't get me wrong, God loves for us to help one another and be His hands and feet.  The problem occurs when our motives behind doing the work is to gain love, to feel proud or fulfill a void inside.  We need love only from one source - God our Father.

Okay, I may be strange to receive this message through a green frog.  But it just goes to show God uses any willing thing or person to spread His Truths.  Keep your eyes open and yours ears alert to Him.  As long as we walk in faith, He will fulfill our every desire.  The world will let us down, love by works and drain our emotions - take heart, He has overcome this world (see John 16:33).  Accept His love.

God, thank you for today.  Thank You for loving me for me.  Keep me focused on You and not trying to gain love from this world.  So many times I have allowed people to bring me down and feel unlovable.  I know You created me and love every piece, mind, body and soul.  May I reflect Your Image in everything I do and say.  Use me to spread Your Truths.  I love You.

Time to Change Your URL

Google search engine provides answers to all kinds of questions.  Where does Google get its information?  Search engines index tens to hundreds of millions of web pages to find help for what concerns you.  We rely on the information presented to us to get directions, find a recipe, understand functions of a product, receive instructions to assemble a product or just read the latest news.  Without this tool, the Web could be difficult to navigate. 

Google is quick, efficient and reliable.  We have faith in the information received.  We guide others we meet to search through Google and even let them know what key words to use so to receive the best results.

Where do you search answers when life presents a struggle?  Who do you turn to find your worth?  How do you figure out the steps to work through a problem?

"I call on the LORD in my distress,
   and he answers me." (Psalm 120:1)

 "Let him not deceive himself by trusting what is worthless,
   for he will get nothing in return." (Job 15:31)

“Woe to the obstinate children,”
   declares the LORD,
“to those who carry out plans that are not mine,
   forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit,
   heaping sin upon sin; (Isaiah 30:1)


My search engine for life gathered information from all the wrong sources.  I ran to a bottle, my eating disorder or destructive thoughts to escape my struggles.  I found my worth in guys who were so lost themselves.  My instructions for any problem came from the nearest person.   Carrying out these plans and strategies resulted in destruction.  Not only destruction for my life, but for all around me as well.  I guided others in the wrong direction through the example set.  Navigation in life appeared difficult.
Why?

I typed the wrong URL in my search for significance and answers.  Sin consumed my life and smothered my faith.  I was lost among all the jumbled messages, chaotic life and Satan's lies.  Once I changed my URL from http://www.me.com/ to http://www.him.com/, I could see much clearer.

I called upon Him in distress.  I trusted His Word to guide my steps.  I cooperated with His plans for my life.  Searching in the Bible for answers, instructions and directions is the only way to find peace.  Joy comes when we thumb through the pages and read through each recollection of His life.  The future holds so much promise as we continue to place faith in Him, not this world or the people in it.  Live by the Spirit.

God, thank you for today.  Rid me of myself daily and remind me I belong to You.  You are my great Counselor and Healer.  Thank You for all the blessings.  Keep my every step in concordance to the plans for my life.  May I guide others to Your Truth so they my not get lost in Satan's conniving schemes.  I love You.

Endless Possibilities

Maybe she will stay at home with her children.  I think she will choose to be a teacher, nurse, or an actress; No, a counselor. 

Maybe he will play Major League Baseball.  I believe he will choose to be a doctor, firefighter, an architect, or an artist; No, a preacher.

We all want the best for our children.  I often wonder what kind of person they will marry.  I already have their spouse picked out, but they may not agree!  As parents, we think of the endless possibilities even before birth; sometimes before conception.  Our dreams go beyond what our children can even imagine. 

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,  to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21)

Guess what?  Our Father dreams even more for us.  We cannot begin to fathom what work God believes we can do for His Kingdom.  His Ways never fail.  He plans every detail before conception and does not lack in fulfilling His promises for our life.  We often question the path He lays, but every step in faith will be backed up by Him.  He will never leave nor forsake you, never giving more than you can bear.

"To humans belong the plans of the heart,
   but from the LORD comes the proper answer of the tongue.
 All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
   but motives are weighed by the LORD.
 Commit to the LORD whatever you do,
   and he will establish your plans." (Proverbs 16:1-3) 

I do not imagine my daughter overcoming an eating disorder, building her self-worth on Satan's lies or placing such importance on one boy in life.  I do not consider the possibility of my son overcoming an alcohol problem, wasting years of his life following Satan's schemes, or relying so much on people to feel him happy.  Yes, I know they will experience trials in this life; God tells us this life is not easy.  But, God brings healing out of any situation if we lean on Him.  God sent His only Son to experience all the temptations.  Yet, He did not sin (see Hebrews 4:15-16).

I am sure my parents did not think any of the things listed above would happen to me either.  But, we all have free will and I chose the wrong path for a long time.  I did not commit to the Lord any of my plans.  I ventured out on my own, pleasing my flesh and pulling the chains of bondage tighter.  I did not feel worthy of any plans God held for me.  I took His blueprints and shoved them deep into my closet.

Only God knows the path of my children.  I will love them regardless of their decisions.  I know that as long as they keep God at the center, anything they chose will bring joy.  Though they may fall, God and I will be there to pick them up, dust them off, and love them all the more.  He will do the same for you.  He has your back as you have faith in Him.

God, thank you for today.  Thank You for not giving up on me as I strayed so far from Your path.  Continue to steer me in the right direction and fulfill the plans of my life.  I now want to study every piece of my blueprint and give every decision to You.  I love You.

Desperate for our Attention

"We were out late last night."
"My child has a game this morning."
"It is my only day to sleep in."
"This day is set aside for family time."
"I can watch it at home on TV."
"I work 3rd shift."

Sunday morning comes and the excuses flow.  We find reasons not to attend a church service.  Satan plants these excuses in our minds.  We find every little piece which supports our decision to stay home.

I drive past ball fields and see kids preparing to play ball when God so desperately wants their attention.  He cries out for us to spend time with Him.  How awesome!  Our Maker, the Creator of all things, our Counselor and Healer longs to hang out and create a friendship with us. 

We must praise Him for all we are given.  The church provides a safe home to learn His Word and be taught how to spread Truth to those you encounter each day.  

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33) 

Seek Him first and all things will be given.  He will allow time to complete your 'to do' list for the day.  Sports can be played later.  Spending time with Him brings nourishment to your soul and rest to your body which no amount of sleep can provide.  Watching sermons on TV is great, but no fellowship can occur.  We need a family of believers to worship together.  Wherever two or three may gather, there He will be (see Matthew 18:20).

"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." (1 Peter 5:8-10) 

I cannot imagine a better way to spend Sunday morning with my family than at church.  It is so important to pray together as a family, learn more about Him as a family and reach out to other families to share in the joy of serving Him.  As you worship with a family of believers, God reveals Himself.  You can share struggles with one another, pray for one another and help each other see where Satan is attacking.  If we continue to stay in our home on Sunday, place our activities above time with God or come up with excuses to not step out of bed; Satan gains a bigger foothold. 

All week we run from here to there.  Sunday services allow us to refuel with fellow believers and give praise to God.  Find a church family to teach and guide you to His Truths.  Don't let Satan gain a foothold in your faith.  God is always first.  Be aware of allowing excuses to replace time with Him!

God thank you for this day.  Thank You for my church family.  I feel so comfortable in my church home and I pray that each person may find somewhere to belong.  May they find somewhere to feel accepted, a safe place to learn about You.  Continue to use our church leaders as vessels to teach, guide, love and support all of Your Children.  Protect our church leaders so Satan cannot tear them down.  I know Satan works hardest on the ones being Your hands and feet on a daily basis.  He wants all churches to fail.  I love You.

A Lighter Side in Life


It is a priceless, fun and easy medicine to cure stress.  It will strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress.  It relaxes the whole body, boosts your immune system and even protects your heart.  It has been around since the beginning and still remains beneficial to our health.

What is it?
LAUGHTER

"Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
   “The LORD has done great things for them.”
The LORD has done great things for us,
   and we are filled with joy." (Psalm 126:2-3)

"He will yet fill your mouth with laughter
   and your lips with shouts of joy." (Job 8:21)

I am way too serious.  I know this because when I laugh, it feels so foreign to me.  I am the one to get things done, no play time, we have work to do.  How fun is this?  No fun at all.  God wants His Children to enjoy each other, laugh often, bring joy to every situation and praise Him with a smile.  Laughter starts with a smile.  So, smile when you feel like crying and before you know it, laughter will follow.

Ask God to lighten your heart, fill your minds with the joy He provides and open your eyes to humor.  Good, clean humor is the best medicine to a bad day.  A smiling child cures any broken heart.  Laughter is contagious.  Surround yourself with the people in your lives who bring joy and watch your troubles disappear.  Count your blessings one by one.  Focus on happy thoughts.  Live on the lighter side.

The devil loves to steal your joy.  Don't allow the enemy to win this battle.  Smash Satan with laughter.   

Live - Laugh - Love

God, thank you for today.  Thank You for each breath I am given.  Bring a smile to my face, so I may spread joy to others.  Help me laugh.  I don't know how to let go of life and just enjoy my surroundings.  Lighten my heart so I will allow myself to feel joy.  Thank You for bringing so many blessings to me daily.  I love You.

Regeneration

Regeneration means replacing a body part with a new one. The process of regeneration doesn’t happen overnight, though. It can take a year to replace missing parts.

The process varies among different species.  Many possess this ability - plants, sponges, worms, starfish and salamanders.  A body part may be removed due to damage, trauma, death of cells or from a human testing the process.  The specie quickly reacts to the severed section and produces mass cells to reform and regrow a new one.  The rest of the body adapts and stays focused on the current task. 

Regenerated nerves are also much larger, and there is an increase in the amount of nerves present after regeneration.  I believe this allows for an even stronger limb, stem, flower, root, segment, tail, etc.  If the event were to occur again, the specie stands ready with a stronger foundation to prevent trauma.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you." (John 15:1-3)

"Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice.  Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity.  Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." (Psalm 51:7-10)

Our human body cannot regenerate parts such as the species above.  We can replace a tooth after the other falls out, skin cells and even some of our liver.  But, overall if a body part is removed, another does not return.

We can do even better - renew our minds, bodies and souls.  How does this process occur?  Only through His Word.  If sin damages our character or hurts another person - confess, ask forgiveness and cut that sin out of your life.  If trauma brings depression or anxiety - seek Him, feed your spirit, cry out and allow Him to heal.  If your soul or heart feels dead - revive it by praising our Maker, helping another person, replace the dead thoughts with His Truths and find peace through Him.  If Satan tries to test you - stand firm on your beliefs, put on the armor needed for protection and fight with His Words (see Matthew 4:4-10).

Just as the severed part grows back much stronger, we become stronger through each renewal, trial and each time He heals.  God teaches us how to stand firm on His Word so to have the tools needed to battle each trigger.  He prunes away our "bad fruits" - sin, unwholesome speech, attitude, etc.  He is our ultimate gardener, keeping us pure and clean. 

Be patient.  The process may take some time.  We did not get this way overnight, so healing will not come overnight.

God, thank you for this day.  Continue the regeneration process of my soul.  Cut away all my sinful actions so I may be renewed and ready to serve You.  Teach me Your Ways and keep my focus on cleaning out my soul.  Make me pure.  I love You.
