Listen to Warnings

Our arrival home from Philadelphia was not the smoothest.  We avoided the storm over the airport by waiting in the air to land once it passed.  The pilot came over the speaker announcing the decision to wait and that the plane still contained 80 minutes worth of gasoline.  Now, I am not certain, but I do not believe gas stations exist in the air.  The storm would pass anywhere between 20-40 minutes and we still were over Muncie, IN.  Not a pretty picture.  Many passengers kept a close watch at the time.

Finally, the airport cleared us to come and land.  The journey to the airport left much to be desired.  One woman became ill and others simply closed their eyes waiting for the wheels to touch ground.  We landed with about 20 minutes left in the tank.

Our journey still consisted of two hours driving from Indianapolis to home.  We ran from the storm, literally.  My father-in-law called and reported that major thunderstorms, able to produce tornadoes, headed right for us.  My husband drove as fast as allowed and the storm lost the race.  We arrived home only to find that more storms brewed west of us and moved quickly our way.  Nothing damaging came of those.

"But may all who seek you
   rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
   “The LORD is great!” (Psalm 70:4)

 "I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits,
   and in his word I put my hope." (Psalm 130:5)

"We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away." (Hebrews 2:1)

Our walk with God must include open eyes and open ears.  God speaks to us in various ways so we must be ready to hear each direction.  God knows which storms to avoid.  Sometimes waiting is required; other times running in the opposite direction is the answer.  Since our pilot obeyed warnings from the airport, he escaped a risky landing.  Since we obeyed my father-in-law's instruction to continue forward and not stop, we avoided treacherous storms.

God uses His instructions to warn against sinful actions.  He presents the consequences and tells of every detail we must follow to avoid those consequences.  It is all written out for us, we need only read and study.  A survey took place to see who reads the Bible - 53% once a month, 26% occasional, 23% rare, 1% did not know.  Do you see a problem here?  No wonder so many individuals walk around unhappy, sad, sick, spiritually dead and stuck in some terrible storms in life.  God saves us from spiritual death.  The way to learn our instructions is to read our Manual.  He created our every being and only He knows how we should move and work.

As our plane landed, everyone clapped.  We were excited to land safely on the ground.  As God saves you, as He loves you, as you find Him; praise Him.  Give thanks to Him always.  He stands with open arms for you.

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for Your saving grace.  My words cannot explain the gratitude I feel for this gift You have given.  Continue to pull on the hearts of others so they may seek You and find their instructions in life.  May I continue to hear You and heed all warnings provided.  I love You.

Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
