Obey and Trust

My in-laws purchased a pool this year.  My son eagerly waited for the day he could jump in.  Well, yesterday presented opportunity for this to occur.  The minute his eyes opened, we began hearing, "Can we go to the pool now?"  Our response remained the same each time, "It is too early in the day and the pool is not ready yet."  He waited in great anticipation.

We arrived and the anticipation shifted to fear.  He feared entering the pool without a life jacket, which up to now he wore one in any kind of water.  The time had arrived for him to learn to swim and trust us.  He could touch the bottom with tip-toes, but still felt anxious.  It took half an hour for my seven year old to trust his father and take that first step into the pool without any floats.  By the end of the day, he was jumping in all alone with us on the side watching.

"Love the LORD, all his faithful people!
The LORD preserves those who are true to him,
but the proud he pays back in full.
Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the LORD." (Psalm 31:23-24)

"I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope." (Psalm 130:5)

Just as you'll never understand
the mystery of life forming in a pregnant woman,
   So you'll never understand
the mystery at work in all that God does.
Go to work in the morning
and stick to it until evening without watching the clock.
You never know from moment to moment
how your work will turn out in the end.
(Ecclesiastes 11:4-6) The Message

God promises an eternal life full of joy beyond our imagination.  Jesus sits and prepares a place for us in Heaven.  We must wait patiently for the glorious day of His return or we are called home.  Just as my son had to wait for the right time to go swimming, we must wait for His right time.  Moving forward in our own timing creates destruction and disappointment.  My son could have went ahead to swim before it was time and his experience would have been cold, miserable and without the protection of his father.

We must remember our Father in Heaven has our best interest in mind and will protect us as we obey Him.  Our steps must be made in faith, knowing He holds the whole picture in His hands.  When He responds, "I am not ready for you to go there or do that yet," we must say, "I trust You and will wait for Your timing."

As our travel continues with Him, fear may consume our minds.  He will never ask us to do more than we can handle.  Our heartache may be avoided and anxiety pushed aside if we obey at His first command.  Have faith that He will not allow you to fall.

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for all the blessing provided.  May I take each step in faith, holding Your hand.  I love You.

Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
