Heed His Instruction

From birth, we listen for instruction and choose to follow them.  Toddlers listen to a parent's voice to learn the rules of life.  Preschoolers listen as mentors and parents prepare them to integrate into society.  School age children listen closely as a teacher instructs them on completion of homework and lessons.  At work, teens and adults must pay close attention to what the boss expects or a pink slip will be presented to them.  If sick or injured, we must accept help from doctors and follow prescriptions.  Our lives are placed in their hands.

From birth, we have another option; to ignore instruction and not follow them.  Toddlers would be lost and receive much injury because they lack knowledge.  Preschoolers would act crazily in society and receive punishment.  School age children would fail in school.  Jobs would be lost.  The sick and injured would remain ill.  Our lives would be miserable.

"Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers,
and blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD." (Proverbs 16:20)

"then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not heed the warning and the sword comes and takes their life, their blood will be on their own head.  Since they heard the sound of the trumpet but did not heed the warning, their blood will be on their own head. If they had heeded the warning, they would have saved themselves." (Ezekiel 33:4-5)

We must humble ourselves and listen to instruction, warnings and teachings.  Just as from birth we learn to survive and function by accepting other's words; we must learn to survive and function as a Christian by accepting His Word.  He has been around a lot longer and knows what He is talking about.  Place your lives in His hands.  There is no better place you could be.

Ignoring His Truths only leads to frustrating, miserable, hateful living.  If we choose our own advice we increase the risk of failure and destruction.  God's Way always works.  Take the path leading to Him.

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for taking the time to guide me and teach me through Your Word.  Keep my ears open and my eyes focused on You.  I am Yours, use me in mighty ways.  I am ready to serve You.  I love You.

Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
