Flesh Or Spirit?

"Mom, can I have another piece of candy?  Can I have a dessert?"
"If you eat any more sweets, your stomach is going to hurt."

Of course my son does not heed my warning of a future stomach ache.  He continues to eat as many sweets as he can get his hands on.  Why not?  It is the holidays, a birthday party or celebration.  Later that night he reaches for a pepto and lays down moaning and groaning.  I do not dare say, "I told you so."

As children grow, they learn from their mistakes.  They realize their parents know a thing or two.  Children must understand that learning is endless and parents are a great source for knowledge.  Joy comes as they quit battling and rebelling against the truth us parents provide for them.

This applies to our relationship with God.  If we think we know it all and avoid all warning that our decisions go against His Truths, we lack joy.  We continue the battle alone, without any protection and live only to satisfy our flesh, whatever seem pleasing at the moment.

"Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.  The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.  The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.  Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God."
(Romans 8:5-8)

Every morning presents a new day, another opportunity to work for God.  Keep focus on the desires of the Spirit so as to experience joy and purpose in life.  God's Plans for each of us can only be fulfilled through obedience and surrender to Him.  He will take all our battles for us.  We need only to step in faith and enjoy all He provides.

Through hardships, praise Him!  The greatest lessons come through tough times.  Hardships strengthen our faith and bond us closer to Him.  Think of the last time you and your family went through some trial or hard decision.  As you leaned on one another, cried together and prayed together, a stronger bond came.

Lean on God, cry with God and pray continually to Him.  Your relationship will grow and blessings will pour out till you overflow.

God thank you for this day.  Thank You for guiding me through my every situation.  Take my daily battles and show me the lessons needed to learn from each one.  I love You.

Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
