No Surgery Necessary

Adenoids trap bacteria swallowed and create antibodies to fight infection.  Small children rely on these to prevent sickness.  In some cases, they swell and cannot perform their duties.  My daughter needed her adenoids removed due to their malfunctioning.

As we wait in the lobby, my husband asks, "Why do we have parts in our body that we could live without?"  Good question.  I am not one to sit and be okay with no answer.  So, I searched a little bit to see why we can live without adenoids.  As we grow, our body develops other means to fight infection and the adenoids actually shrink, becoming nonexistent.

So, what other parts could we remove?
Some include your Gall bladder, one Kidney, Hair, Tailbone and Appendix.

God uniquely designed each body part to create a well functioning vessel for our souls.  The appendix aides in digesting plant-based foods.  Herbivorous diets were more popular years ago, so we would survive without it now.  The tailbone, used in other species to keep balance, really only exists as remnants of the tail.  Without one kidney, a person may live a healthy life.  The other takes over duties and works efficiently.

So, where am I going with this?  Stick with me here.

"Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." (2 Corinthians 5:5)

"Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.  For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.  Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many."
(1 Corinthians 12:12-14)

Though the body may contain some 'useless' parts, this is not the case for the body of Christ.  We each make up a part of the body of Christ.  No one more important than the other, but each serve a specific purpose.  We all must work together to further His Kingdom.  No one part is useless; all are vital to serve Him.

In our physical dwelling; the hand could not run like a foot, the eye could not smell as the nose does and the ear could not taste as our tongue does.  Likewise, among the parts of Christ, each has a specific task or duty.  He created some of us to be His hands in healing, some to be His feet in guiding, some to be His mouth in teaching, others to show how to become more like Him, a few to be His heart in love and yet others just to be His comfort by listening.  We all serve Him.  Find what He wants for you and complete the task with your whole heart.  Don't compare your gift to another's.

Just as one kidney is removed and the other takes up the slack, we must help if one part should fall.  We pick each other up and build strength to return balance within the body of Christ.  If you see another hurt, sad, sick or falling victim to Satan's schemes, react quickly.  Sometimes this requires you to step out of your comfort zone or abilities for a short while.  God will take care of the details and give you strength as long as you give it your all.

Keep His body healthy.  Your presence is vital to completing His purpose.  Never will surgery be required to remove a part.  Resist falling victim to Satan's lies which tell us we are useless, creating more harm to His body than good and needing removed.

God, thank you for this day.  Thank You for creating me for a purpose.  Sometimes I lose sight of my purpose and feel useless, needing to be removed.  Keep my eyes focused on You and the plans for my life.  I am here to be Your hands and feet each day.  I love You.

Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
