Someone Is Watching

I watch my children go to the alter at church service to sing and dance.  Tears began to well up in my eyes.  These tears flow because I see God's work.  The faith and love radiating from my seven and three year old teach many lessons.  At the end of the songs, our children's minister led the congregation in prayer.  Not just any prayer; prayer coming straight from the heart.  We all got on our knees and surrendered our whole being in prayer to God, our Creator!

The children returned to their seats and our children's minister proceeded to teach the congregation about the necessity of being an ACTIVE parent.  We are not just bodies living under one roof.  We are a family, a team chosen by God to live for Him and further His Kingdom.  In order to carry out His plan for each of us, we must place Him in the center of our every day. 

"Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ."
 (1 Corinthians 11:1)

"Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents. Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn't love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that."
(Ephesians 5:1-2) The Message

In order for parents to set examples, we must first gain a relationship with God.  Study His Word, know Him, bring Him into every step you take and love Him with your every action.  Our children start off with no concern of what others think about them.  Children sing and dance when they feel happy, they play hard, they laugh often, they love with all their hearts and forgive quickly.  Whoa!  Maybe we should learn a thing or two from our children. 

The world steals these innate characteristics from us.  Why?  We live in a fallen world.  Let us learn God-Confidence and teach our children to find strength in Him.  The more they know of His love and what He did for us, the better realization they gain of who they are in Christ.  We must build our children up so this fallen world will not tear them down. 

Let us clothe ourselves in Christ as we leave our house daily.  Pray on your knees, fully engaging in conversation with our Maker.  Love every person you meet as God loves you.  Praise Him with song and dance, for He allows each breath to come.  Forgive your enemies, be slow to anger.  Set these examples for your children, co-workers, peers, and any other person you may come into contact.   

Bottom line - LIVE FOR HIM!

God, thank you for this day.  Thank you for the reminder spoken through our children's minister at church of how to live and our role as parents.  You blessed me with two beautiful children and I know I cannot do this alone.  Provide the words, actions and strength to carry out Your plan for me as a parent.  Thank You for trusting me with two of Your Children.  I love You.

Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
