Our Earthly Teacher

He rolls over, turns the alarm off and his feet hit the floor.  He gets dressed and heads to work a long 8-9 hours.  He travels home in traffic to eat dinner with the family.  Then, bath time and bedtime follow much too soon.  On the weekend, he repairs the vehicle, mows the yard, pays the bills, changes light bulbs, paints the wall where a toy made a nick, tightens the handlebars on a bicycle, attends church with the family and tries to work in some TV time to catch up on the latest sports.

Any man may become a father, but the paragraph above describes a DAD.  To live up to this title, one displays great character.  He shows Dedication - Affection - and Direction!  Besides keeping the house running, he wipes away a tear after his daughter falls off her bike, he calms his son down after experiencing his first nightmare, he shows his son how to treat a woman and his daughter how to pick a man who will love her as she deserves.  A dad never rests, yet never seems overwhelmed.  He wakes every morning with a smile on his face and completes each task that God gives him for the day.

"Love the LORD your God and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws and his commands always."
(Deuteronomy 11:1)

"Whoever spares the rod hates their children,
but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them." (Proverbs 13:24)

"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.  This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands." (1 John 5:1-2)

Without faith, obedience and love for our One True Father, we lack the ability to set good examples.  A dad performs earthly duties as well as eternal ones.  He loves his Father above, believes in Him and then teaches by example.  A dad disciplines a child so they may learn how to love one another and respect their own self.

As a wife, I respect my husband, who chose not only to become a father BUT a DAD as well.

Whether your earthly father is still living, active in your life or absent from your life, know that our One True Father above possesses the strongest love for each of us.  Our minds cannot fathom the love He holds for us.  So, as you thank your earthly father today, remember your Father above who gave His only son so we may live an abundant life.  He fits the description of a DAD and so much more!

God, thank you for today.  Thank You for my husband and the love he brings to this family.  He works diligently for You daily.  May our children model him and see the love he holds for You.  Thank You for choosing me as Your Child so I may see Your dedication, Your affection and follow Your direction every day.  Happy Father's Day, Daddy!  I love You.

Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
