The Importance Behind a Number

Numbers are everywhere in our daily lives.  Every number existing in our lives holds great meaning.  Think about it. . .

The electric bill explains the amount of energy used in one month.
The balance in a bank account determines our budget.
A Social Security number tracks everything done since birth.
A driver's license contains numbers all over it that describe only you.
Our days, months and years are numbered to help remember specific moments in time.

The list could go on for a while.  Think about the importance numbers play in our lives.  They determine our actions, describe our very being, place limits on us, follow us everywhere we travel and make up our time spent here on Earth.  Without numbers guiding our lives, we would be lost.  Think about it. . .

Invitations could not indicate start and end times.
Sporting events could not determine a winner.
Earning a degree would be impossible without grades.
Memories may get lost without a date to pinpoint time.
Without medical stats, we would never know if something were wrong with our bodies.

I work in a bank and see numbers the whole time I am clocked in.  We crunch numbers often and use numbers to complete the day.  My job would be impossible without numbers.  We had a meeting once and our boss said a statement that made complete sense in all realms of life.  He said, "Numbers do not lie; they tell the story!"  SO TRUE!  Can you think of a number in your life that holds no meaning?

Well, here comes the correlation of my above story to our spiritual life.  All these numbers we encounter daily mean so much here on Earth.  But, that is it; beyond our temporary life here, those numbers are meaningless.  Yet, we spend so much time and energy focused on the numbers which describe our story here.  What if I told you that the most important numbers in our lives are neglected every day?  What if I told you that there are a set of numbers that tell the greatest story?

What am I talking about?
The Story of our lives.  Our reason for existence.  The way to an Eternal life with our Lord and Savior.  These numbers are the only ones that hold the true meaning of our lives.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John 3:16-17)

"In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,  in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory." (Ephesians 1:11-12)

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

These numbers tell The Story.  Begin reading Genesis and let the numbers lead you through the Word intended for our lives.  These numbers never change, hold meaning throughout every generation and describe our very being.  Focus on His Word, His Truth and His Will available to all in a well-put together Book.  Pick one up today and finger through the pages, reading the sequential words to help guide your life.  Find out how to live here temporarily, and to LIVE eternally in Heaven next to our Creator.

God, thank you for another day.  Thank You for loving me so much to breathe life into my being.  Thank You for sending Jesus to die for the sins of all.  Help me define myself and my live according to the numbers found in Your Word.  Keep my focus on Truth.  I love You.

Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
