Nutrients Required

Okay, so I normally do not share my opinions/frustrations publicly. Usually my poor husband hears it all (God love him). But, this one I must share because my passion for holistic health will not allow me to be quiet. My daughter is home sick today and it began at 5:00 AM. We turned on the TV for her to rest and try to fall back to sleep. She fell back asleep while I continued watching. One of those lovely infomercials appeared. You know, "$19.95 if you order now. . .but wait there is more, we will throw in a free product if you act now and plus free shipping!" Blah, Blah, Blah. This one hit a nerve of mine though. It was a weight loss product. Many claim to have made it through the holiday season eating whatever they wanted and still lost 400% weight with 78% of it being body fat. Really? Frustrating! These individuals are not doctors promoting the product, who knows what ingredients compose this medication and what it is actually doing to your body. Plus, if you continue eating the same, not educating yourself on healthy lifestyle changes or learning portion control; when the medication runs out or you cannot afford it or you get tired of taking it then the habits are still there and the weight will creep up on you again. Also, these ads wreak havoc on individuals already depriving themselves of proper nutrients and then hoping to take this product to get down to even smaller size. There is help out there for those desiring to lose weight, eat healthy and fight the holiday cravings. There is help out there for those hoping to win the battle with food, eat clean, whole foods and provide the nutrients their body needs to be healthy. Fat, Protein, Carbohydrates, Sugar, Veggies, Fruits - ALL GOOD substances and none should be eliminated completely from our bodies. Our bodies need nutrients to function, to keep our heart beating, lungs breathing, muscles working and bones building.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.”  (Psalm 139:13-15)

Our bodies are uniquely and wonderfully made and require food to function.  God intended food to nourish and provide energy to accomplish the work which is planned for our lives.

Don't fall victim to these infomercials or over the counter diet pills. Seek help from a healthcare professional. Come see me for nutrition counseling at Healthy Pursuit Medical Center SEI. Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
