Meet Him at the Cross

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.  And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.”  Romans 8:28-29

In following my writings, the reader knows the power Romans 8:28 plays in my daily living.  The other day I listened to a sermon talking about Romans 8:29.  I read it before, but never dwelled on or extended meditation past verse 28.  Together, the Scriptures speak volumes. . .

God proves His amazing power, love and comfort continuously throughout the Bible.  These two verses speak only a minor portion of His power.  He will take the darkest times in life, the painful moments lived, the mistakes made, good decisions, bad decisions, etc. and turn each for His good.  We must lay it all at the cross, and then stand with arms wide open allowing Him to consume the situation and work it out according to His plan and purpose for your life.  No chapter written in your life will be wasted.

Venturing further into the Scripture we read that He predestined those He foreknew to be conformed to the image of His Son.  He knew you before you came to be. . .He touched every fiber of your being while in the womb, blessing each part to go and be His disciple while living on Earth.  Therefore, He created you in His image, to strive each day to be like His Son Jesus.  No, we cannot reach perfection as Jesus did; but, we can strive each moment to live like Him.  Before deciding on what to say, eat, drink, watch or do - think, “How would Jesus handle this situation?”  Will we get it right every time?  NO; but, thankfully our God knows freewill places that chance that we will choose wrongly and turn away from His Will throughout our lives.  He took care of that because He is omniscient.  He sent His only Son Jesus to set the example, prophecy Truth and die to cover our shortcomings with His blood.  God offers grace to all who come to the cross and ask for forgiveness.  He then takes what lay at the cross and work it out for good.

He predestined your life before your birthday every thought to be.  Today is written in His Story.  Make it great by reaching to Him for guidance.  Do everything for His glory.  Take time to meditate on this Scripture.  Is there anything in your life needing to lay at the cross for Him to use for good?  He awaits you. . .

Keep praying harder than the devil can work.
